LOVE that poem - the mother coming a pill, then a pine, the tree burning inside, “the green unraveling of the kudzu”

"dead dogs in skirt of leaves"..."god-worthiness" language world is so encompassing ...canny crossings with horror genre tropes and mythic links of body and earth...as well as strong, visceral sense of place....beautiful work...

Incredible images! Inspired to write a longer poem—rarely go longer than a page. Thanks!
Rebecca Olander (she/her)

“I can’t keep pace between snakes.”
Sumita Chakraborty (she/her)
01:06:09
@Linda thank you! fun fact: it was my first long poem and it was entirely by accident. It was supposed to be a sonnet but it didn’t feel like stopping. I know it’s hokey to say “let the poems tell you what they want to be,” but it really told me what it wanted to be! Maybe some of yours want to grow too
linda flaherty haltmaier
01:07:17
Love that, Sumita!

amazing Morgan!
Rebecca Olander (she/her)
01:27:56
Thank you, Rebecca! “repelted (I think that was the word - it autocorrected to “repented”!) with badger fur every year”… Love how the whole concept of your book took an unexpected turn, much like Sumita’s long poem asserting itself to be a long poem. How the work dictates the work, if you can listen. “a mother is a state of mind”…
Nina
